  • WHAT KIND OF GAME DO I WANT TO MAKE?

After looking at what games I have liked to play in the past, it's clear that I appreciate story-driven with the open world, action/graphic adventures. I want this game to carry these same vibes trying to be realistic and not too ambitious with the final result because it's my first time in a game design.
I want to bring my interests from other hobbies into this project, such as travelling into the Highlands get involved in the Scottish culture and history, and drinking their spiritual drink: The whisky.

Title: Ben Nevis
Subtitle: A shot for Scotland!

  • IDEA

  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main idea is to create a video game that everyone can play while having a relaxed day drinking some whisky at home why the video game is for people over 18 years old.
"Whisky" is the word used in Scotland to name its spiritual drink, while "whiskey" is used in the rest of the world. I will use the first one because of the story of my video game.

I was in the Scottish Highlands this past summer and I fell in love with the beautiful mountains, lakes, their history and the most international of its product, the Whisky.

There are over 130 active whisky distilleries spread across Scotland, which are split into five whisky-producing regions; Campbeltown, Highland, Islay, Lowland, and Speyside. Where a whisky is made can have a huge bearing on its flavor, everything from the source of the water to the presence of peat in the local area will come through in the taste.

  • SYNOPSYS

Our character Alastair is a Scottish man living on the Ben Navis mountain slopes in the Highlands. His humble distillery burns at midnight, and he has to get the double than average production to cover his basics.

  • MAIN FEATURES

-Walking through the highlands, feeling the Scottish pride.
-Knowing the whisky production.
-High graphic standards.
-Get drunk from your sofa and without drinking a drop of alcohol while playing ... or do ...

  • GENRE

Action - adventure - collectathon game

  • PLATFORMS

 Playstation, PC

  •  MOODBOARD

The atmosphere of the animatic game is cloudy and wet. I am getting inspiration from the Ben Nevis Mountain and Loch Lomond in Scotland. I will use the Ben Navis mountain for the design of the first level and Loch Lomond for the second or third level...

I will design a traditional distillery as the home and place work of my Alister character where the story starts and where the character (the first person gamer) will work to help Alister in the process of the whisky.

  • AESTHETIC INSPIRATION

Grim Fandango is the choice in regards to inspiration. This was the first Graphic adventure game that I played in my life.
There is a use of stark contrasts with their dark and muted color palette, and this effect amplifies the eery atmosphere of the game and aids in making the lighting more dramatic. The shapes used for the characters are rich, organic, and stylized, and a Film Noir and Casablanca style for the graphics.
