INVICTUS

PROJECT WORKFLOW

SYNOPSIS

Year 3009.

The destructive behaviour of humans caused the progressive destruction of nature.

In the struggle for survival, nature creates Invictus as the saviour of the few vestiges of terrestrial and aquatic life. A creature created by the fusion of metal and natural life capable of annihilating any enemy trying to destroy the few remnants of natural life on the planet. A DNA of connections multi-sensory calls for help connects to nature with its protector.

Nature had created her avenger.

RESEARCH

1.FACTS AND TROUBLE

THE AMAZON BURNED

After sifting through the ashes of the Amazon fires, science and policy experts at Conservation International uncovered the underlying driver that fueled the flames: deforestation. Conservation News spoke to these experts to determine how we can protect the forests to prevent future fires.

HUMANS  ARE CAUSING  LIFE ON EARTH TO VANISH

Ecosystems, the fabric of life on which we all depend, are declining rapidly because of human actions.

Human pressure on nature has soared since the 1970s. We have been using more and more natural resources, and this has come at a cost.

If we lose large portions of the natural world, human quality of life will be severely reduced and the lives of future generations will be threatened unless effective action is taken.

Over the last 50 years, nature's capacity to support us has plummeted. Air and water quality are reducing, soils are depleting, crops are short of pollinators, and coasts are less protected from storms.

INSPIRATIONAL FILMS AND DOCUMENTARIES

TERMINATOR

In the year 2029 machines rule the world. The rebels who fight against them are led by John Connor, a man who was born in the eighties. To eliminate him and thus put an end to the rebellion, the machines send the Terminator robot to the past with the mission of killing Sarah Connor, John's mother, and thus preventing his birth. However, a man from the future will try to protect her.

BARAKA

Director: Ron Fricke. Acclaimed documentary about the nature of planet Earth. Shot in 24 different countries, it tries to capture the essence of nature and the culture of humanity and its customs, while pointing out the ways in which the human being relates to his environment. The apparent fragility of human life is contrasted with the greatness of his works, marking the unequal relationship between man and nature. Baraka has no linear argument. It also has no characters or dialogue. However, amidst these enormous contrasts, the spirituality of humanity emerges as the most important element that distinguishes it from other species. A world beyond words

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW

Director: Roland Emmerich. Research carried out by climatologist Jack Hall indicates that global warming of the planet could trigger a sudden and catastrophic climate change on Earth. Drilling carried out in Antarctica shows that this phenomenon already occurred 10,000 years ago. And now he is alerting leaders that it could happen again if action is not taken immediately. But his warnings come too late.

WALL- E

Director: Andrew Stanton. In the year 2800, on a devastated and lifeless planet Earth, after hundreds of lonely years doing what it was built for - cleaning the planet of garbage - the little robot WALL•E (an acronym for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) He discovers a new mission in his life (besides collecting junk) when he meets a sleek, modern scout robot named EVE. Throughout this fascinating film about the environment, both characters will travel throughout the galaxy and will live an exciting and unforgettable adventure...

MOODBOARD

Invictus is a creature created to annihilate human beings, but at the same time, it has an aura of melancholic style imitating the romantic poets of the 17th century. My favourite Henley poem gives the creature its name. It has a cheeky aura like the pirates who sailed the ocean in search of ships to steal and signs of a very dangerous creature, a mixture between a gargoyle and a monster with horns and claws and a robot.

SCRIPT

Invictus by WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY is one of my favourite poems, along with Gustavo Adolfo Becker's romantic rhymes.

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.

Invictus is an inspirational poem that invites personal motivation and courage in a physical and mental agony situation. In this project, it is nature that is dying and finds no other way out than to create a murderous creature for survival.
